Girdletree Barnes Bank Museum

Location: Snow Hill Road - Girdletree

Six miles south of Snow Hill stands the quiet town of Girdletree. In the past, Girdletree was a thriving community and George Barnes, a prosperous merchant saw the need for a town bank. The Girdletree Barnes Bank opened in 1902 operating under George L. Barnes & Co. It closed in the 1930s. Reopened in 1999, the restored building serves as a museum, exhibiting items and memorabilia from Girdletree's past. Open May to early September, Wednesday and Saturday, 1-4 pm.
