Riding Trails
Spend one day riding on the beach and the next day in the heart of the woods just because you can in Worcester County. Home to several horse-friendly trails, the county provides a wide range of scenery to explore, from beaches to meadows. Consider Assateague Island. The world-famous island devoid of hotels and condos is home to a group of free-roaming horses (one of the few wild breeds left in the country). Smithsonian Magazine named the island among the best places to see wild horses in North America. Of course you don't ride the wild horses, but you can take a ride on a friendlier, trained horse from nearby stables to ride through the wilderness. From early October to mid May, riders are encouraged to bring their own horses to enjoy Assateague Island National Seashore on the island. The Milburn Landing Trail in Pocomoke River State Park has a 3.7-mile horse trail through pine forests and cypress bottomlands. Without venturing too far into the city, you can ride in Ocean City and admire the skyline and beaches of the area. However, riding in Ocean City is only available from November to March from the inlet to 27th Street so plan accordingly.

Other riding trails in the area: Algonquin Cross County Trail, Chandler-Colburne Trail, Pusey Branch Trail and Hudson-Tarr Trail.
