The trail takes a circular route, traveling along small country roads, through farmlands and forest, alongside the Pocomoke River, tributary creeks and beautiful cypress swamps.

Passing through the historic towns of Snow Hill, Berlin and Pocomoke City, the trail offers visitors true Eastern Shore friendliness and charm. It is also a short distance from the Atlantic Ocean and Assateague Island National Seashore. A wide variety of accommodations are available nearby, including hotels, inns, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds. There is also a variety of eating establishments and picnic grounds to choose from. Pocomoke River State Forest and Park
The Pocomoke River is the deepest and swiftest tidal river of its width in the United States. Designated by the National Environmental Trust as a Wild and Scenic River, it winds its way throughout the northernmost cypress swamp in the country. Bald eagles, snowy egrets, great blue heron, otters, muskrat and deer inhabit the areas along the river banks.
